Your Opportunity at SECURE

As General Labourer, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the decontamination and disposal of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) waste. You’ll receive training in NORM detection and safety. Your tasks will include detecting, surveying, handling, and decontaminating oilfield equipment, and waste using high-pressure water blast equipment. You’ll also sample, document, store waste, maintain decontamination equipment and prepare reports to meet client and regulatory requirements. Fieldwork, overtime, and occasional weekend work will be required.

 

This role is based out of Standard, Alberta.

Work Environment

The role of NORM Labourer is structured as a full-time position, working 5 days a week, 40-hours, with the potential for overtime depending on role requirements and deadlines.

A Day in The Life

  • Ensure all SECURE safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Detecting, surveying, handling and decontaminating oilfield equipment and waste.
  • Operate forklifts, skid steers, and wheeled loaders equipped with a pipe grapple.
  • Load and unload flat decks safely and efficiently.
  • Cleaning with high pressure water blast equipment.
  • Maintenance of decontamination equipment.
  • Sampling, documenting, and storing waste.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, and wheeled loaders with a pipe grapple is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience loading and unloading flat decks is considered an asset.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The ability to prioritize work, with a strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with oilfield experience and certifications such as WHMIS, Standard First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry, and NORM Safety Training.
