Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, compliant, and efficient day-to-day operations of assigned facilities or project sites. This role provides frontline leadership to site operators, laborers, and contractors while ensuring alignment with SECURE’s values, safety commitments, environmental responsibilities, and customer service standards.

You will play a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, developing people, optimizing site performance, and supporting the Operations Manager in achieving operational and financial objectives.

The Team

Based out of SECURE’S NORM facility in Standard, AB, you’ll be part of a hands-on operations team focused on safety, collaboration, and getting the job done right. The team brings strong field experience and works closely together to manage and process NORM-impacted materials while maintaining high operational standards.

Work Environment

The Operations Supervisor role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional overtime and on-call duties. The role may require flexibility in shifts, extended hours, weekend work, and occasional travel as dictated by business needs. Candidates must be prepared to work in challenging environments, including working outdoors in all weather conditions and occasional emergency response requirements.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Safety Leadership & Compliance

  • Lead by example in promoting SECURE’s strong safety culture and environmental stewardship.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure hazard assessments and safe work practices are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, provincial regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure radiation monitoring and decontamination processes are properly executed and documented
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Operations & Site Management

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective site performance.
  • Supervise operators, labourers, and subcontractors to meet operational targets.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), maintain operational logs, and support scheduling of personnel and equipment.
  • Ensure work aligns with client requirements, operational standards, and established procedures.

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Foster a respectful, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
  • Train, mentor, and support team members
  • Complete worker competency assessments and ensure required certifications remain current.
  • Promote collaboration across departments including Safety, Engineering, and Operations Support.

 

Equipment, Site & Customer Oversight

  • Ensure equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and site housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate repairs and support efficient site operations when required.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure high service standards.

 

Cost & Resource Management

  • Support tracking of labour, equipment, and material costs.
  • Ensure necessary PPE, supplies, and operational resources are available.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • 3–5+ years of relevant industry or facility operations experience
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Valid industry safety certifications
  • Ability to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Experience handling NORM-impacted waste considered an asset
  • Strong safety leadership with a solid understanding of supervisory responsibilities
  • Proven leadership, team development, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities
  • Basic mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and corporate safety systems
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Physically and mentally capable of performing demanding field-based work
