Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Material Handler you will be responsible for works within our Specialty Chemicals division to ensure all blended chemicals and products are correctly stored and shipped. The successful candidate will operate a forklift to load and unload products, manage storage around the warehouse and yard, and ensure materials are correctly marked for TDG requirements. This role is based out of Red Deer, Alberta

The Team

The team is highly collaborative and safety-focused, working together to ensure smooth warehouse operations and compliance with regulations. Everyone plays a hands-on role in maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and organization while supporting each other to meet daily objectives.

Work Environment

The role is fast-paced and physically active, requiring adaptability to work in various weather conditions and handle diverse tasks, from operating forklifts to preparing shipments. Safety and precision are top priorities, with a structured approach to maintaining compliance and ensuring a well-organized workspace.

A Day in The Life

  • Unload incoming deliveries and loading products for shipment per company policy and TDG Requirements
  • Attend morning “tool box” meeting to be aware of daily activities
  • Keep warehouse/product storage areas neat, clean, organized and safe.
  • Assist in stenciling, labelling, palletizing, shrink-wrapping/banding of materials for shipment.
  • Accurately and efficiently perform all tasks as assigned.
  • Use small hand tools and operate handling equipment.
  • On Call (Weekend and Evening) responsibilities as required
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by the Lead Shipper/Receiver, Plant Manager or Plant Foreman
  • Understand and comply with all safety and environmental requirements and company policies.
  • Perform all activities in accordance with established safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Play an active role in improving the working environment to ensure the safety and health of all employees.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Forklift Certification with experience operating forklifts with liquid-based materials is considered an asset.
  • TDG, WHMIS 2015, First Aid Certifications
  • Requires 1-2 years of directly related forklift experience.
  • Be physically fit and have a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
  • Maintenance and computer skills are considered an asset.
  • Oil and Gas chemical knowledge is considered an asset
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions.
