To be eligible for the Co-Op People & Culture position, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution and available for the full work term.
  • Be registered in your school’s official Co-op program. If you are not enrolled in a Co-op program, you are not eligible for this position.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid work permit).
  • Complete a Medical and/or Alcohol and Drug test if the role is considered safety-sensitive.
  • Submit a cover letter (answering “Why do you want to work for SECURE?” and “How does this position fit with your career goals?”) and recent transcripts.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our People  Culture Co-Op Student, you will support the day-to-day operations and initiatives of the People & Culture (P&C) team, contributing to a consistent and positive employee experience across the organization.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple areas within People & Culture, including Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Strategic Partnering, and Learning & Engagement, providing a well-rounded introduction to the HR function.

 

The Co-op will assist with administrative activities, data management, process documentation, and project support, gaining a broad understanding of how People & Culture teams work together to support employees and leaders. This position is well-suited for a student seeking practical experience in a collaborative and fast-paced HR environment.

 

This role is based in the Calgary Brookfield Place office on a full-time, Monday to Friday schedule.

The Team

You will join a collaborative and supportive People & Culture team focused on delivering consistent, effective people practices across the organization. The team values clear communication, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

 

As a Co-op student, you will be supported through coaching, structured work, and exposure to a variety of People & Culture activities.

A Day in The Life

Project Support Across People & Culture

  • Provide coordination and administrative support for People & Culture initiatives and projects.
  • Assist with research, audits, and preparation of materials related to HR programs and activities.
  • Support preparation of presentations, summaries, and internal deliverables.

Data, Reporting & Process Support

  • Update and maintain HR trackers and dashboards
  • Validate HR data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with documenting HR processes and updating standard operating procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement by helping identify opportunities to streamline processes.

Administrative & Coordination Support

  • Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, document preparation, meeting coordination, and inbox management.
  • Organize and schedule HR meetings, training sessions, and employee-related events.
  • Track action items and follow up to support the timely completion of tasks.

Communications & Resources

  • Assist with drafting, formatting, and updating People & Culture communications, guides, and presentations.
  • Support maintenance of HR intranet or SharePoint resources, ensuring content is current, well-organized, and clearly communicated.

Professional Conduct

  • Work collaboratively with People & Culture team members and internal partners.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail in all work.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary Cooperative Education (Co-op) program and eligible for a work term.
  • Available to commit to an 8-month co-op work term, with a preferred start date of May 2026; a September 2026 start may be considered in alignment with co-op program requirements.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business or Commerce, or a related field, with legal eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy and quality.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional and approachable when interacting with employees and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
