Your Opportunity at SECURE

We are currently looking for a Casual Transfer Station Attendant for our Moberly Lake and Hudson's Hope transfer stations. In this position, you would be responsible for providing customer service to people coming into the station to drop off garbage and recycling. The ideal candidate for this position would be available for vacation coverage and weekends as needed.

 

This position is located at Moberly Lake, BC

The Team

The successful candidate will work independently to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the transfer station, while providing excellent customer service and maintaining site standards.

Work Environment

This position operates on an on-call schedule to provide coverage for sick days, vacation, and additional support as needed.

A Day in The Life

  • Exercise good public relations at all times
  • Process computer tickets, reconcile daily cash, manage emails, and complete required online and in-field training
  • Open and close the access gates at the Transfer Station in accordance with the Hours of Operation, ensuring that all gates are properly secured outside of the Hours of Operation
  • Conduct routine inspections of the perimeter fences to identify any occurrence of unauthorized entry, damage or other problems
  • Dispose of any unauthorized material dumped at the entrance gate or other similar locations, including any material dumped outside of the Hours of Operation
  • Direct traffic flow at the Transfer Stations having regard to public safety and in accordance with the traffic management plan
  • Supervise the placement of Waste into Containers and the compactor system, as appropriate
  • Remove any non-compliant materials from deposited loads
  • Prevent the scavenging of waste, recyclable or product stewardship materials by facility users
  • Maintain all buildings on site, including the yard, in a clean condition which may include, collection and disposal of fugitive waste material and litter that escapes during the operation of the facilities, winter maintenance such as shoveling snow, sweeping in and around all buildings

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 1 – 2 years of General Laborer experience
  • Competent at completing documents on a daily basis
  • Good understanding of the regional Occupational Health and Safety requirements and ability to operate mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environments.
