Your Opportunity at SECURE

Are you starting your career in welding or the skilled trades? Join SECURE as a Welding Apprentice / General Labourer and gain hands-on experience in a safe, supportive environment. You’ll assist with day-to-day duties on-site, support welding and fabrication activities, and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area — all while developing your trade skills under experienced mentors.

 

This role is based out of Red Deer AB

The Team

Gain hands-on learning with experienced tradespeople and welders and opportunities for apprenticeship advancement and long-term career growth.  We have a strong focus on safety, mentorship, and skill development.

Work Environment

This is a Monday to Friday position working 8am to 5pm.

A Day in The Life

  • Follow all SECURE safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, tailgates, and risk assessments.
  • Assist welders and tradespeople with setup, preparation, and cleanup for welding and fabrication tasks.
  • Perform general labour duties such as sweeping, material handling, and maintaining a tidy workspace.
  • Operate and maintain small tools and equipment; clean, lubricate, and fuel as needed.
  • Support safe loading, moving, and positioning of materials and components.
  • Report any equipment maintenance or repair needs to your supervisor.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and be open to learning new trade skills.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or interest in starting a Welding Apprenticeship or trade program (no prior experience required).
  • Previous labour or construction experience is an asset.
  • Forklift operation experience is an asset.
  • Ability to follow SECURE’s Workplace Health and Safety requirements and documentation processes.
  • Physically capable of performing hands-on work including lifting, shoveling, and moving heavy materials.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Fit-for-Work each day and committed to safety and teamwork.
