Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Marketing Accountant, you will be responsible for facilitating monthly settlements and Profitability Reporting for our Commercial Trading and Supply business at SECURE Facilities and Commercial Trading Pipelines for CDN and US Secure Entities.

 

This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta

The Team

You’ll be joining a collaborative, highly skilled group of professionals in Marketing, Trading, and Supply, who value accuracy, accountability, and partnership across business units. The team is dedicated to supporting SECURE’s growth while sharing knowledge and building strong working relationships.

A Day in The Life

  • Prepare and manage all monthly Marketing Accounting-related worksheets and internal reports for the proper accrual and booking of monthly Commercial Trading and Supply profits and costs for CDN and US SECURE Entities.
  • Work closely with Trading, Supply, Scheduling, Contracts & Pricing, Production Accounting and Finance personnel to ensure the smooth flow of information and proper tracking of volumes, qualities, and profitability associated with SECURE facilities and Trading Pipelines.
  • Timely and accurate creation and distribution of invoices for all Trading and Supply contracts, and provide Finance with payment details for monthly Settlements for CDN and US SECURE Entities.
  • Prepare and provide input into weekly and monthly management reports on expected profits/costs relating to CDN and US SECURE Facilities and Trading Pipelines.
  • Ensure all transactions are accomplished in accordance with internal Trading, Credit and Risk policies.
  • Ensure all processes and procedures are completed in accordance with Internal Audit controls and process maps.
  • Foster positive working relationships with external and internal customers, including field and Calgary area personnel.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree and 3-5 years of recent direct experience within Crude Oil Marketing.
  • An established network within the energy marketing industry.
  • A professional accounting designation, complete or in progress, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the various Canadian crude oil pipelines, truck terminals, crude oil types, and pricing components necessary for invoicing and payment of Crude Oil Marketing volumes.
  • Strong customer contact skills with proven professionalism.
  • The ability to ensure that individual initiatives are routinely taken to develop new procedures and exceptional forward ideas and insight into the Crude Oil Marketing accounting analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage various deadlines and deliverables.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience navigating and preparing crude oil pricing invoices and payment statements for Crude Oil Marketing-related business.
  • Experience with Egistix or related Crude Oil Marketing systems would be an asset.
  • The ability to demonstrate success in assuming a high degree of accountability for individual initiatives, common-sense solutions, and professional decisions.
  • an upbeat, self-motivated and energetic team player attitude, with a willingness to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while sharing experiences and knowledge with others.
  • The established ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a win-win focus.
