Your Opportunity at SECURE

This role will support SECURE’s ESG team in managing, analyzing, and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, sustainability disclosures, and regulatory reporting requirements. The student will gain valuable exposure to ESG frameworks, rating agency questionnaires, and emissions accounting, while contributing to the delivery of SECURE’s annual sustainability reporting commitments.

This role will be based in Calgary, Alberta

The Team

The student will work within SECURE’s ESG department, a team responsible for sustainability reporting, emissions management, and regulatory compliance. The team collaborates closely with internal business units and external consultants, providing mentorship and opportunities for meaningful contributions to the company’s ESG and sustainability strategy.

A Day in The Life

  • Assist in gathering information required for emissions and water reporting, ESG frameworks, and rating agency questionnaires within required timelines.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data management protocols for SECURE’s GHG Data Management System (Carbon Hub).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, operations, integrity, E&R, production accounting, finance) to facilitate accurate data collection for regulatory reporting.
  • Assist with compiling and verifying information for reporting under frameworks such as SASB, GRI, TCFD, and CDP.
  • Support the preparation of submissions for regulatory programs including NPRI, AEIR, TIER, and OBPS.
  • Gain exposure to GHG accounting and reporting principles, including calculation methodologies, emission factors, and data verification processes.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in ESG processes, data quality, and reporting efficiency.
  • Provide support for ad hoc ESG initiatives and projects aligned with SECURE’s sustainability goals.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a relevant field (Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, or Communications).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and approach challenges proactively.
  • Effective time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and professional in all interactions.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within diverse teams.
