Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Operations Manager for SECURE Surface Rentals is responsible for overseeing day-to-day service operations, including Solids Control Rentals, Bead Unit Operations, R&M Facility, Tank Rentals, and Special Projects. This role balances hands-on field oversight with leadership, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable operations. The Operations Manager is also accountable for coaching and developing teams, maintaining strong customer relationships, and delivering high-quality service that aligns with SECURE’s priorities.

This position plays a key role in driving the growth and operational excellence of SECURE’s Surface Rentals business.

 

This role is based out of Leduc, Alberta.

The Team

The Operations Manager will be part of a collaborative and safety-focused team, working closely with Service Supervisors, field staff, and support functions to deliver consistent, high-quality service. The role emphasizes coaching, mentoring, and building strong relationships to foster a high-performing, engaged workforce.

Work Environment

This position involves a balance of office-based responsibilities and frequent visits to field locations and job sites. The work environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and safety-driven, requiring adaptability to shifting priorities and operational demands

A Day in The Life

Leadership & People Development

  • Train, coach, and manage Service Supervisors and technical/field-based employees, supporting overall career growth and team performance.
  • Act as a resource to Service Supervisors during after-hours and on-call rotations.
  • Determine staffing requirements and adjust to meet changing market demands.

Field & Operations Oversight

  • Provide technical support to field teams, ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee seasonal and special projects, coordinating third-party equipment, consultants, and field support with Project Coordinators.
  • Frequently visit field locations and job sites to monitor progress, address challenges, and provide operational support.
  • Support field sales efforts by meeting with customers, addressing operator needs, and ensuring questions are resolved promptly.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Lead and participate in safety meetings across operations.
  • Promote and model SECURE’s strong safety culture through safe practices and procedures.
  • Assist with developing, managing, and implementing safety policies and programs for both field and shop operations.

Financial & Business Management

  • Oversee operations to ensure budgets are met and costs are controlled.
  • Assist in preparing and implementing budgets, forecasts, and adjustments.
  • Track and report monthly revenue.
  • Coordinate customer invoicing from field tickets through to final invoices.
  • Approve supplier payables and ensure accurate coding for payments.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Ensure timely and accurate daily operations reporting to the Calgary office.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align operational activities with business objectives.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of oilfield experience, including at least 5 years in Solids Control or drilling fluids operations.
  • 5+ years leading teams, with demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Post-secondary/technical education is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Centrifuge Operation, Bead Recovery Process, and related equipment.
  • Valid H2S ticket, First Aid certificate, and WHMIS.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License (or equivalent) with current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Training certifications such as Hazard Assessment, Forklift, and Lock Out Tag Out.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
