Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Senior Business Analyst is an exciting new role supporting Secure’s Waste Management division. Reporting into the Finance team, this position is responsible for delivering product and service costing as well as margin analysis to support both Sales and Operations. The role is a key contributor to the profitability of the Waste Management business by providing in-depth financial analysis and modelling to guide decision-making.

 

In addition, the Senior Business Analyst will assess the impact of geographical and competitive market dynamics on product costing and pricing, while also playing a central role in setting sales targets and evaluating performance against those targets. The successful candidate will bring strong financial modelling expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations that drive business performance.

The Team

As part of the Finance team, the successful candidate will join a collaborative group dedicated to driving operational excellence. In this role, they will support the Sales and Operations teams by providing financial insights, analysis, and strategic guidance, ensuring alignment between business performance and organizational goals.

Work Environment

This full-time, permanent position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and requires 40 hours per week in an in-office setting.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Liaise with Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to conduct costing analysis and support the development of pricing and sales strategies.
  • Lead the annual update of product price books through the development and maintenance of pricing models.
  • Perform cost analyses to identify and monitor key cost drivers for product delivery.
  • Ensure consistency in cost analysis and product pricing across all geographical service areas.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of annual sales plans and performance targets.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations teams to provide profitability analysis for significant or unique job quotations.
  • Support the Sales Director in identifying, tracking, and reporting on key sales performance measures.
  • Assist Sales in evaluating the effectiveness of sales strategies.
  • Analyze sales data in Excel (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting) to provide actionable insights.
  • Create item-specific business cases, including cost analysis, pricing recommendations, and commercial agreement evaluations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process optimization.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to deliver real-time sales and customer insights.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

 

  • A professional financial designation (CPA, CGA, CFA, MBA) or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in pricing and costing analysis
  • Advanced financial modelling, analysis, and data manipulations skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting sales or operations teams in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
