We are currently looking for an experienced Short Haul Driver to join our Fort McMurray Waste Management team.
This is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in the Fort McMurray area. The role involves operating a roll-off truck and follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with potential for overtime. Please note that accommodations are not provided for this position.
Operate roll-off bin trucks in diverse weather conditions and challenging work site environments.
Adhere to all site-specific and jurisdictional traffic safety legislation.
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of transport units and loads to ensure safe operations in accordance with NSC standards and regulatory requirements.
Complete all required daily safety documentation (e.g., JSAs, WSRAs) accurately and on time.
Ensure all loads are properly secured and remain within legal load limits at all times.
Submit all required documentation promptly, including logbooks, equipment inspection reports, time tickets, manifests, trip records, fuel logs, and credit card receipts.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Accurately complete all labeling, including shipping names, generator names, approval numbers, TDG Class, UN numbers, Packing Group numbers, and load numbers.
Inspect all waste materials to ensure compliance with the manifest, recycle docket, and bill of lading descriptions.
Maintain clear and effective daily communication with Dispatch to support customer needs and maximize operational efficiency.
Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks such as greasing, checking air filters, adjusting brakes, and setting brake systems.
Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract (copy must be provided).
Minimum 3 years of experience operating roll-off trucks.
Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
Proven experience driving on highways in a variety of weather and road conditions.
Proficient in completing daily logbooks and safety documentation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
Excellent interpersonal skills with experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Good knowledge of Fort McMurray roadways and surrounding areas.
