Your Opportunity at SECURE

As a NORM Labourer, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the decontamination and disposal of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) waste. You’ll receive training in NORM detection and safety. Your tasks will include detecting, surveying, handling, and decontaminating oilfield equipment, and waste using high-pressure water blast equipment. You’ll also sample, document, store waste, maintain decontamination equipment and prepare reports to meet client and regulatory requirements. Fieldwork, overtime, and occasional weekend work will be required.

 

This role is based out of Standard, Alberta.

Work Environment

The role of NORM Labourer is structured as a full-time position, working 5 days a week, 40-hours, with the potential for overtime depending on role requirements and deadlines.

A Day in The Life

  • Ensure all SECURE safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Detecting, surveying, handling and decontaminating oilfield equipment and waste.
  • Cleaning with high pressure water blast equipment.
  • Maintenance of decontamination equipment.
  • Sampling, documenting, and storing waste.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • A grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The ability to prioritize work and a strict adherence to safety and safe work practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with oil field experience and tickets in WHMIS, TDG Clear Language, Standard First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry and NORM Safety Training.
