We are looking for an Intermediate Software Developer to join our growing WiQ development team. You will work on a modern, evolving codebase alongside experienced developers, contributing to both new feature development and the continuous improvement of a live product. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in full stack development who is eager to grow their skills in React, React Native, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, and more.

The Team

The WiQ Development team is a customer-focused, solution-oriented, and proactive group that plays a key role in optimizing WiQ and significantly contributing to its success. They are collaborative team players who are passionate about what they do.

Work Environment

This full-time, permanent position can be based in Calgary, Alberta, and requires 40 hours per week in an in-office setting.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Full Stack Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain the complete application stack including NodeJS, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Support the deployment, scaling and monitoring of applications using AWS services. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Participate in troubleshooting and performance tuning of cloud-hosted systems.
  • Version Control: Use GitHub for version control and collaboration. Create pull requests, review code and provide feedback in code reviews.
  • Bug Fixes & Feature Enhancements: Investigate and resolve production issues and bugs. Collaborate with QA and Product to verify fixes and deliver a high-quality experience.
  • Software Architecture: Contribute to architectural decisions and help define technical patterns and standards. Collaborate with other developer to enhance system scalability, performance and maintainability.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in full stack development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proficient in React, TypeScript, NodeJS and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, Agile development environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to break down and solve complex technical problems.

The following are considered assets in this role:

  • Experience with React Native for mobile development.
  • Exposure to AWS Services
  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (e.g. Jest) and a passion for writing reliable, tested code.
