Trading & Logistics Analyst

The Trading & Logistics Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the crude and NGL trading and scheduling teams. This position is responsible for optimizing logistics, delivering timely and actionable market intelligence, and providing day-to-day support across trading and scheduling operations. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, keen attention to detail, and a solid understanding of energy markets and logistics.

The Crude Oil Marketing and Trading team is a high-performing group that leverages market insight and strategic partnerships to optimize value, manage risk, and drive results across SECURE. 

This full-time, permanent position is based in Calgary, Alberta and requires 40 hours per week in an in-office setting.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate and optimize NGL trucking logistics to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation scheduling
• Prepare and distribute daily market updates, providing key insights to support trading and operational decisions
• Support month-end processes, including balancing and settlement activities, to ensure accurate financial and operational reporting
• Collaborate closely with production accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate information flow and effective tracking of volumes, product qualities, and revenue across all marketing activities at each facility
• Ensure all trading activities comply with internal credit, risk management, and trading policy frameworks
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including field operations and Calgary based teams
• Stay informed on global market trends and proactively respond to economic and geopolitical developments, contributing to strategic market forecasting and positioning

The individual in this role will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with macros and data analysis tools
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Exceptional analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail
• Eagerness to learn with a growth mindset and a desire to build a long-term career in the energy or marketing field
• Strong willingness to develop skills through hands-on experience
• Adaptable and flexible with a proactive approach to taking on a variety of tasks as needed
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with vendors and internal stakeholders via phone and in person
• Collaborative team player who thrives in an open, fast-paced and dynamic work environment
• Ability to build strong professional working relationships and contribute positively to team culture

The following are considered assets in this role:

• Knowledge of crude oil and NGL logistics
• Experience with Python for data analysis and automation
• Familiarity with the Western Canadian crude oil and NGL markets
• Prior experience in the energy sector is considered an asset
