Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Plant Foreman works within our Specialty Chemicals division to lead the operational staff.  This includes the shipping and receiving staff, material handlers and chemical operators who prepare, blend, and package or load chemicals.  The successful candidate will lead the team as directed by the Plant Manager and may need to fill in to complete duties of their staff as required. A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assume the leadership and responsibility for the operations group
  • Facilitate the morning “tool box” meeting to deliver daily activities to the group
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance of tools and equipment is scheduled and completed
  • Manage day to day activities in the blend room, tank farm, yard, loading docks and loading/unloading pads
  • Oversee daily inventory and operation preparation for the next days/weeks activities
  • Work closely with the Production Planner to schedule blends as required for the business
  • Mange the team to complete the loading and unloading empty drums when required
  • Manage spill cleanups when required
  • Understand and comply with all safety and environmental requirements and company policies
  • Perform all activities in accordance with established safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Play an active role in improving the working environment to ensure the safety and health of all employees
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment and that all equipment is in proper and safe working order daily
  • Recommend maintenance and repair for equipment
  • Facilitate effective organization and flow of jobs to optimize the completion of projects, including reassignment of resources due to delays
  • Assign employees to specific tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and prioritize work accordingly
  • Prepare various work-related written reports and schedules
  • Complete all paperwork daily and submit to the office as requested
  • Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and government regulations
  • Ensure the Health and Safety of all workers on-site
  • Work with the regional leadership team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 2+ years of leadership or management experience in a supervisory role in a heavy construction or high hazard workplace managing front line workers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience blending, transferring or other handling of TDG or Dangerous chemicals
  • Maintenance and computer skills are required
  • Must have a minimum of 2+ years of management experience in chemical blending, transloading or handling
  • Ability to mentor and lead a team of operations personnel
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner and also in a team environment
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and meet objectives/deliverables
  • Results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter; with ability to handle change
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, environment and customer service
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Physically fit, able to stand, climb, bend, and lift 50 pounds, and able to work on feet for long periods of time
  • Be committed to working as part of a team and making safe choices

 

The following are considered assets in this role:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Leadership role directly related to chemical blending, transloading of hazardous (TDG) goods
  • Any formal Leadership Training is considered an asset
  • Oil and Gas chemical knowledge is considered an asset
  • TDG, WHMIS 2015, First Aid Certifications are an asset
  • Previous Forklift/ Bobcat/ Crane experience would be considered an asset
