Your Opportunity at SECURE

The GM, Corporate Sales & Strategy is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the Manager, Corporate E&P Waste Management and Manager, Hazardous & Industrial Waste Management to ensure the execution of sales and business development strategies. This role directs work, aligns corporate priorities, and ensures that sales leaders have the support, tools, and guidance to drive growth, revenue optimization, and market expansion.

 

The GM, Corporate Sales & Strategy is responsible for enabling the success of the entire sales organization by providing strategic guidance, pricing frameworks, system efficiencies, and bid proposal expertise. This role ensures the sales team is equipped with the tools, insights, and strategies needed to maintain and drive new revenue growth, enhance customer value, and align with SECURE’s overall business unit objectives.

 

With a focus on business strategy, sales leadership, and revenue generation, this role ensures that sales initiatives align with SECURE’s broader corporate goals. The GM, Corporate Sales & Strategy plays a key role in shaping market positioning, optimizing pricing structures, and fostering executive-level customer and stakeholder relationships.

 

Success in this role requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making to drive both short- and long-term business objectives. A commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence is essential.

Work Environment

This full-time, permanent position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and requires 40 hours per week in an in-office setting.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Sales Strategy & Performance: Define and communicate a clear sales strategy with ambitious, achievable growth targets, aligning KPI’s with corporate objectives to drive accountability and results.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Provide mentorship and leadership to the sales team, enhancing skills in pricing, contract negotiations, and sales enablement.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Work closely with the GM, Field Sales – E&P Waste Management, and operational teams to ensure alignment and execution of sales strategies.
  • Sales Enablement & Training: Develop and implement structured training, coaching frameworks, and sales enablement programs to enhance team effectiveness and revenue growth.
  • Market Expansion & Business Development: Spearhead market expansion strategies using competitive intelligence and industry insights to drive sustainable growth.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Foster strong customer relationships, positioning the company as a trusted strategic partner while optimizing MSAs and corporate service contracts.
  • Data Driven Decision Making: Leverage analytics, sales performance data, and market intelligence to identify gaps, refine strategies, and maximize profitability.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Establish scalable sales policies, best practices, and pricing integrity standard to ensure consistency, compliance, and market leadership.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Business Development, Crude Oil Marketing, and Operations to align sales strategies with business opportunities.
  • Safety, Risk, & Operational Accountability: Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and environment stewardship, integrating risk awareness into sales operations.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

  • Experience & Leadership: 10+ years in sales and marketing, with 5+ years in a supervisory/management role within Waste Management, E&P (Exploration & Production) Waste Processing, Oil & Gas or Environmental industries.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or a related field is an asset.
  • Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of E&P waste management, including clients, suppliers, competitors, and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Sales CRM systems.
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with regional markets and business landscapes.
  • Strategic & Sales Skills: Ability to develop and execute marketing and sales strategies tailored to the waste management sector.
  • Communication & Influence: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport and influence without direct authority.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to nurture and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Leadership & Team Building: Visionary leader with a track record of building high-performance teams through empowerment, engagement, and accountability.
  • Adaptability & Initiative: Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently or within a team environment while meeting business objectives.
