Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Senior Surface Land Analyst you will be responsible for working closely with project teams on various new projects, handle general land tasks as required, as well as provide support and mentorship for JLA. SSA will conduct work and is responsible for the administration of land rights in accordance with department/internal processes, corporate policy and applicable regulatory and legal requirements. The position involves regular communication with Internal Stakeholders to provide expertise and ensure timely access to land. The role requires a solid understanding of Surface Land processes, regulations and requirements to ensure timely access to land, maintain operations and accuracy and integrity of Land files.

As a Senior Surface Analyst, you will play a key role in mentoring Junior Land Analysts (JLAs), fostering their growth, and ensuring team goals are met.

You’ll have the chance to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance and operational excellence in land administration.

A Day in The Life

  • Provide strong leadership and professionalism to internal stakeholders, leading by example to ensure most basic tasks are executed
  • Provide senior level support and guidance to teams to ensure timely acquisition to land
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and external resources in project execution with a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple work tasks to ensure timelines are being met
  • Execute projects internally as required such as third party requests, notification projects, etc.
  • Audit final packages to ensure completeness and compliance
  • Provide support and training to JLA to complete their tasks and meet their goals
  • Assist in any analyst duties that may be required including communication with landowners, field staff, industry partners or governmental agencies
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data input into Land System (CS Explorer)
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Team Lead or Management
  • Liaise with government bodies and understand knowledge for regulations associated with land acquisition and operations such as AER, AEP, BCER, LRPTB
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in surface acquisition related industry requirements
  • Strong knowledge of surface acquisition documents such as lease agreements and crossing agreements
  • Understanding of acquisition process and requirements on Crown Land

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 yrs Surface Land experience
  • Post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in land or related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable acts, guides and regulations and a strong understanding of surface land acquisition process and requirements
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proficiency in using CS Explorer including Optix with experience in the following programs being an asset: SPINII, ETS, EDS, OneStop, ISC, Abadata, Pandell Roads, Tressl, Excel, OpenInvoice
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and administrative skills including written and verbal communication
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines and to be able to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Willingness to share knowledge and provide feedback for the improvement of internal processes and knowledge base
  • Commission for Oaths for Alberta considered an asset
