Your Opportunity at SECURE

Secure Energy is seeking an experienced, safety minded equipment operator. The ideal candidate will be experienced in operating excavators, grapples, magnets, thumb and bucket, balers, and experience with shears is preferred. Equipment Operators are responsible for safe and effective operation of equipment in completion of projects in Fort McMurray.

The Team

The SECURE Metals & Mining team is a group of experienced professionals dedicated to providing innovative and reliable scrap metal recycling services. With a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction, our team operates across strategically located facilities in Western Canada, offering a full range of services from recycling and clean-up to demolition and surplus scrap metal marketing.

Work Environment

This position is located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a rotational work schedule, which includes fly-in & fly-out to site from Calgary or Edmonton. 

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
  • Follow Secures’ operating standards and procedures
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and ensure equipment is running properly
  • Secure special attachments to equipment
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication when required
  • Minor repairs to equipment. Report any necessary reports to the supervisor
  • Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • One or more years experience operating equipment in industries such as civil earth works, pipelines, or Oil & Gas
  • 2 years equipment operation experience
  • A minimum of 5,000 hours in Heavy Equipment operations
  • Drug, Alcohol & Fitness Testing
  • Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Valid Safety Tickets (H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Ground Disturbance)
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Must have steel toe work boots; other personal safety gear is an asset
  • Ability to Work variable shifts & hours
  • Work and/or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
  • Must be physically fit, heavy labour is required
  • Can work well as a team member or independently with little direction
  • Must be reliable, mature, punctual, motivated
  • Strong detail orientation with computer skills
  • Solid communication and customer service skills
